Viagra Venous Leak Information in Q&A
erectile dysfunction and/or venous leak? For the past 6 months I have been experiencing difficulty in erections.. I used to wake up hard as a rock and experience spontaneous erections throughout the day, however that has not been the case for the past 6 months. I no longer wake up erect, and I don't get the spontaneous erection that I used to. I am 23 years old. My blood tests have come back normal, however I do not know what is causing this. My Dr. said there is a chance I am suffering from venous leak, however he has done NO test to determine that. I can achieve an erection though a few minutes of masturbation, however, if I quit stimulating myself. the erection goes to semi-erect almost immediately.. Is there any chance the erection problem is caused by something other than venous leak? cause i have read up on this condition and the outcome sounds very UN-promising.... Could it be something else? thank you in advanced for any help you may have.. I have tried Viagra and it has made sex possible if that makes any difference at all

This is a troublesome condition called Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome, or TMS. You can learn more about TMS and how to overcome it at HealthyStrokes.com."

Peter M replied: "Is this something new that I, as a diabetic, have to think about? Or is the question in the wrong section? Seriously, I'm new to diabetes so I'm not really sure...."

Tin S replied: "Since an erection requires a precise sequence of events, ED can occur when any of the events is disrupted. The sequence includes nerve impulses in the brain, spinal column, and area around the penis, and response in muscles, fibrous tissues, veins, and arteries in and near the corpora cavernosa. Damage to nerves, arteries, smooth muscles, and fibrous tissues, often as a result of disease, is the most common cause of ED. Diseases—such as diabetes, kidney disease, chronic alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, atherosclerosis, vascular disease, and neurologic disease—account for about 70 percent of ED cases. Between 35 and 50 percent of men with diabetes experience ED. Lifestyle choices that contribute to heart disease and vascular problems also raise the risk of erectile dysfunction. Smoking, being overweight, and avoiding exercise are possible causes of ED. Also, surgery (especially radical prostate and bladder surgery for cancer) can injure nerves and arteries near the penis, causing ED. Injury to the penis, spinal cord, prostate, bladder, and pelvis can lead to ED by harming nerves, smooth muscles, arteries, and fibrous tissues of the corpora cavernosa. In addition, many common medicines—blood pressure drugs, antihistamines, antidepressants, tranquilizers, appetite suppressants, and cimetidine (an ulcer drug)—can produce ED as a side effect. Experts believe that psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, low self-esteem, and fear of sexual failure cause 10 to 20 percent of ED cases. Men with a physical cause for ED frequently experience the same sort of psychological reactions (stress, anxiety, guilt, depression). Other possible causes are smoking, which affects blood flow in veins and arteries, and hormonal abnormalities, such as not enough testosterone. Monitoring erections that occur during sleep (nocturnal penile tumescence) can help rule out certain psychological causes of ED. Healthy men have involuntary erections during sleep. If nocturnal erections do not occur, then ED is likely to have a physical rather than psychological cause. Tests of nocturnal erections are not completely reliable, however. Scientists have not standardized such tests and have not determined when they should be applied for best results.. You can do this with postage stamps. Take a row of stamps and place around limp penis and if preferations are broken in the morning you are getting nite time erections. Good luck. Check out this site:"

ERECTION Advice Needed? I am in my mid 20's and for the last few years I have had trouble with erections. My blood/testosterone levels are Normal, and I dont have diabetes/heart problems. I have taken Viagra like 1 year ago on a handful of occasions and it worked. Recently when I have taken it, I will get hard but all the sudden lose my Erection FAST, whether it is in the middle of foreplay, masturbation, or evebn during SEX!. Went back to the Urologist and he did a Doppler Ultrasound and said I have a Venous Leak which is why my erections are going away. I have no idea how this could have happened since I havent had trauma and in the past i just had difficulty getting erections but they would not disappear, now they do and I Rarely get morning Erections. The Urologist doesnt know what to do. Anybody have expereince with this? I am too young for this and gets me Depressed. I read about Kegels, **** Rings, Exercise, Supplements, anybody been through this or have knowledge?

Chibi.Jan-x0 replied: "haha no sorry... it has a mind of its own =\.."

Scott B replied: "You didn't mention whether it could be fixed or not. If this was happening to me, I'd ask your urologist how to fix the leak. In other words, get to the source of the problem."

phertm replied: "DON'T WORRY , USE NUX VOMICA 200 AT NIGHT FOR 15 DAYS THAN USE LYCOPODUM 200 WEEKLY U WILL FOUND OK"

Amber replied: "I would go to another urologist. I do know that there is a surgery to fix leaks in the veins. So check and see if you would be able to get that. I dont know exactly when they do that but I do know that it is a possiblitiy. If this has been happening for a while then I am not sure it will get better on its own, so I would get more medical treatment. It is not you fault."

bronnimoose replied: "Oh dear. Good luck, Nige. Hope you have a supportive partner."

Tim W replied: "I once saw a programme (there was nothing else on honest), where they say if there is nothing medically wrong then its all psychological. The key is to find an understanding partner who will build the confidence. A quick google search led to : not sure if it helps - chin up - i'm sure it will all come good"

daystar862003 replied: "First of all I know you feel like its the end of the world with this problem, but its not. Take a deep breath. You definitely need a second opinion. Go on line and search for another urologist that specializes in this problem. You may have to go to a place like Duke University Medical Hosp. that has departments that specialize in this field. I would go to there site on line and search for a doctor and give him a call or email him. I'm sure with all the state of art equipment that they have this can be fixed. My daughter had a whole in her heart and without cutting her they (Duke Cardie.) were able to go up her leg with a catheter and plug the hole up. Now that's amazing. I really believe someone there can help you. Good luck and don't give in to some crazy temporally fixes."

Tyrus replied: "If you indeed have a primary severe venous leak, then surgical correction is rarely effective long term. Look into some of the research by Dr. Tom Lue who pioneered surgery for venous leak only to virtually abandon it because of lack of permanent cures. As for why your plumbing doesn't work, I really can't say but it actually doesn't matter since treatment would be the same. The venous leak issue has nothing to do with overall health. The best treatments are the following: External vacuum system. While you may feel this is too embarrassing or intimidating, recognize that this is a very safe and effective way of controlling the venous leak problem without surgery and providing a reasonably good result for most patients. Potential partners worth keeping will not reject this type of a remedy. Combination therapy where we use Viagra plus MUSE or the injection together with a tension ring borrowed from the vacuum devices. This uses blood flow enhancers to generate the increased blood flow necessary for the erection together with the tension ring that substitutes for the missing venous control. A bit expensive, but may be worth a try. Finally, when all the above are unsuccessful, an implant is a viable alternative. While it's true they may not last forever, nothing does. If they break or need replacement, so what? In the meantime, you'll have a functional erection unit which is what you don't have now. The risks of surgery are exactly as you mentioned, but there are risks to everything from driving to crossing the street. Modern implants typically last 10 years or longer. Besides, the only alternative is to live without this normal part of life. Consider a second urology opinion before resorting to any surgery, particularly for venous leak. Optimally, this should be at a university affiliated medical center. If you can open yourself emotionally to these possibilities, you'll be much happier with the results. It sounds like you need a second opinion to determine thee degree of the leak, if it's the proper diagnosis and paths of treatment. Understand if the leak is not so serious, surgery may be an effective treatment I hope that helps"

Barbara B replied: "sounds to me like you might be a nancy boy"

BaldManAZ replied: "the ****rings might help you maintain an erection(maybe keep the venous leak problem down to a minimum)....but be careful with the metal ones....sometimes they get stuck on and then it is an ER trip to get the off...."

stephen k replied: "Sometimes the walls of the veins have weakened points and split or tear under normal wear and tear. Unless you can patch the leak, it will be like a hose that is broken. kegals won;t help and an erection ring may not be positioned right to compensate for the tear. It cannot be patched or is too risky of an operation to do so?"

SkyLights90N replied: "There are venous surgeries that can restore function. If your doctor is unaware of these ask for a referral to obtain a second opinion. They are not recommended in every case but it won't hurt to check into it."

Dr A. Vencicio replied: "I believe Strapon.com sell some pretty realistic ones. maybe you could pretend its yours and then take it off when not in use."

prainva replied: "It sounds like a constriction ring at the base of your penis to prevent the blood from leaving too soon might help. My brother uses them in conjunction with a penis pump and is very happy. Hope this helps."

Goethe replied: "Vascular leak? Sounds like a micro surgeon is needed. Ask your Urologist to recommend a surgeon, dude. (and stop gripping so tight on the upswing)."

flipgoman replied: "I have been through an episode like yours and overcome it. I was thinking I need rings. I have visited many websites to find a cure for my problem. But low and behold! Before I can even wear a ring or pop another pill. The problem went away. I lose my focus and enjoyment when physical and mental exhaustion kicks in while I do all the work. She took over the reigns and the driving. With good food and regular sex, I'm now cured. My partner was the cure. When I got tired and there is this sudden lost of erection she lets me rest inside her and regain my strength while laying on my back and enjoy the rest of the act. Now we have very satisfactory sex again (thanks to her). I can last longer and does not suffer from premature ejaculation. When I say last longer, I mean like 30 minutes firm and erect. Not bad for my age. I'm in my mid 50's."

Michael C replied: "If your urologist doesn't know what to do for you, then you should seriously find another doctor who can. You are definitely too young to experience erectile dysfunction, and if it's something physically wrong, a decent doctor should be able to help you get it corrected."

redbeardthegiant replied: "Definitely investigate having the venous leak fixed !! Find another urologist if the one can't figure out what to do. Or a sexoligist, sex therapist, whatever. Make sure they are an MD [or DO] though. A vascular surgeon might be the thing to seek. But FYI, any medication can stop working after a while; your liver figures out how to take it apart. The answer is to switch to a new drug, so ask your doc for cialis or whatever the third one is. I would be very wary of a c*ck ring, as it could place undue stress on the area of the leak, worsening it. Supplements are BS; the supplements industry paid off enough congressmen that they are not regulated by the FDA, so there is no "safe and effective" test for them, no inspections of manufacturing facilities, no standardization of dosage, no testing for contamination, etc."

Shelly M replied: "I'd get a second opinion. If one doesn't know then go to the next one that will try something else on you. Can't they fix the leak??"

doktorangbaliw replied: "You should see an older urologist - they would have more experience handling cases such as yours. Have they tried actually FIXING the leak? I'm sure they can find a way."

mandm68 replied: "Mark G.... Sure have, I been the whole nine yards. The Penis rings will help maintain an erection once you have applied the ring to the base, after you have obtained filling the two chambers with blood and getting an erection, then you apply the band to the base of the penis. You will need different sizes, as they do tend to be tight, and you have to be careful of the time you keep them on, as they can hurt if left on to long. You will find that if you shave the base of the penis, I use to save about an inch back towards the pubic area, and the entire shaft as i had hair that grew almost to the head, so that when you apply , and remove the ring you don't pull out a wad of pubic hair with it, as the hair will wind around the band. I have had a three piece pump and rod's with a saline bladder implanted, as i had a sever injury to the penis and lost both testicles. You may want the doctor to give you a prescription for a ErecAide Pump unit, they are expensive, but I really believe they would be a BIG benefit to you. They have manual, and electric (battery) operated. They will usually engourge you pretty good once you get the hang of using it. Meaning it will give you good girth. I believe you may want to speak to a specialist also, because some times venous leaks can be fixed with surgery. I would check on that. I have had specialist from Maine to Baltimore Maryland where i finally found Dr Arthur Burnett who was able to help (with reconstruction and putting in an implant last March, been since 1984) me where others wouldn't touch me, or give me any hopes of being helped. They even wanted to amputate my penis because of the damage. I believe venous leaks can happen without having been injured. I think sometimes the penis can engourge, and we can hold the erection long enough where it starts seeping through the artery walls. There are no exercises, or pills that i have found to help. By me using the pump i was able to keep blood supply to the penis all these years, even though i nevert got an erection from it. Remember I had a really bad injury. I know it wil hep you, but you have to be carefull not to over pump and cause more venous leakage. It's like the Viagra if you have an erection to long it will have to be asperated, or you end up the same way causing damage. Don't give up, or get depressed young man. I have done all that also. You keep going until you get help! If your not satisfied, keep looking for a doctor. If i can help any other questions e me or contact me. I will definately keep you in my prayers. You have touched me hard, as i know all to well the heartache of this matter, and would not wish it on my worst enemy if I had one. Good Luck young man!"

Heal M replied: "Try Acupuncture, it surely helps even though it might take a while for cure. Kegel exercise too helps. You can get other helps like exercising in a gym, building muscles and Chinese Herbal medicine will definitely help. Hope you get best of your health soon."

If you have a tumor on the pituitery that will create a problem and can be tested by measuring your prolactin levels!! Low levels will give you better perormance and shorter refractory time!! Dostinex is used to treat it!! You did not mention your estrogen levels!!! Very important!! Your normal level should be below 30 !! In the creation of testosterone there is a hormone that changes testos... to estrogen and with some people it can be out of whack creating more estrogen than it should!! High estrogen in men = low to no performance and /or low libido!! Arimidex under supervision can solve that problem!! Next time or in the continuation of this time give more complete info. as to condition please !!!!!"

ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU MIGHT BE SUFFERING FOR PERFORMANCE ANXIETY. MAY BE THE PROBLEM ISN'T THAT BAD, HOPEFULLY, AND YOU ARE JUST SO WORRIED ABOUT IT THAT STRESS TAKES OVER AND YOU LOOSE IT. I WENT THROUGH THIS A FEW YEARS AGO, IM IN MY MID 20S AND ONE TIME I WAS WORKING 16 HRS A DAY AND STRESSED AS HELL, AND ONE TIME, ONLY ONE TIME I LOST MY ERECTION IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERCORSE, AND THAT WAS IT, I WAS SO TRAUMATIZED THAT FOR MONTHS I COULDN'T GET IT GOING. UNTIL I HAD TO SIT DOWN WITH MY WIFE AND ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT IT, WORK LESS, AND GET HEALTHIER, AND THINGS WENT BACK TO NORMAL. IT'S DIFFICULT TO GET YOUR MIND OFF SUCH AN ISSUE, BUT TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT SO MUCH, AND GET A SECOND OPINION!"

for_en_sic2008 replied: "I did a quick google search and found this website A list of criteria have been developed that the patient and surgeon must meet to ensure optimum results. The criteria include: (a) patient must have strong sex drive, (b) patient must experience a consistent reduction in erectile hardness during sexual activity, (c) normal hormonal evaluation (d) normal neurologic evaluation (e) arterial insufficiency on vascular testing (f) arterial blockage located in the common penile artery or cavernosal artery (g) the presence of a donor (inferior epigastric) artery of sufficient length and (h) the surgeon must be trained in microvascular surgery. The operation that Dr. Mulhall, a fully-trained urologic microvascular surgeon, performs at the Sexual Medicine Program at The New York Presbyterian Hospital joining the dorsal artery of the penis, to the inferior epigastric artery. The operation is generally performed in a 23-hour fashion (the patient returns home the day after surgery). Complications are minimal and include abdominal or scrotal pain/swelling and occasional temporary numbness on the top surface of the penis. Abstinence from sexual activity involving the erect penis is recommended for the first 6 weeks after the operation. In the hands of a surgeon trained to perform this procedure, this form of surgery is potentially curative for the carefully selected patient with ED. Any young male with ED that may be related to pelvic fracture, trauma to the perineum or prolonged bicycling may be a candidate for this form of surgery. Venous Ligation Surgery In general, the long-term benefits of venous ligation surgery have been limited, with short-term success rates cited between 30-50%. Venous leak is believed to be a manifestation of structural changes in the erectile tissue and the concept that ligation of venous channels external to the corporal body itself can remedy venous leak in a long-term fashion has little scientific basis. Venous ligation surgery is currently recognized as a purely investigational form of surgery. However, preliminary evidence supports the use of such surgery in young men with traumatic or congenital leakage from the most posterior portions of the erectile bodies, the crura. At the Sexual Medicine Program at The New York Presbyterian Hospital, ligation of the crura is used to combat crural venous leak. No long-term data are available in a large cohort of patients and at this time this procedure is considered investigational. Prior to being considered for this procedure, young men need to undergo routine evaluation and the vascular study, DICC. If venous leak is identified to be present solely in the crura of the penis, then the patient is counseled about this form of surgery."

merlyn333 replied: "Greetings! Take Viagra exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take it in larger doses or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Revatio is usually taken three times each day, about 4 to 6 hours apart. Viagra is usually taken only when needed, 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. You may take it up to 4 hours before sexual activity. Do not take Viagra more than once per day. Viagra can help you have an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. An erection will not occur just by taking a pill. Follow your doctor's instructions. If you become dizzy or nauseated, or have pain, numbness, or tingling in your chest, arms, neck, or jaw during sexual activity, stop and call your doctor right away. You could be having a serious side effect of Viagra. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Have a magic day!"

Erection Problems, Please Help? am in my mid 20's and for the last few years I have had trouble with erections. I read about Kegels, **** Rings, Exercise, Supplements, anybody been through this or have knowledge?

deemee replied: "Sorry that you are going thru this. With the technology out there, i can't imagine that this cannot be fixed. I would get a second, third, or 100th opinion. Sorry about the non-hard luck! :)"

nonesuchwhy replied: "it's fucked up man. you need to get more of what really turns you on and it can be more of a situation than graphic things."

beautyofthesea replied: "I've never heard of a "venous leak", and it seems very odd that the urologist cannot help you out. I've known a lot of men in my life time and usually the problem with maintaining an erection is from a bad experience in the past. If you were made to feel inadequate, or were unsure of the situation as far as pleasing your partner, it could have long lasting effects on your psyche years later. Now this may not be your problem, but it won't hurt any to explore it more. And the next time you are with someone an in intimate situation, try to focus only on pleasing your lover. Take your time, and don't get frustrated if you can't perform. Being honest with your partner is a big part of healing."

Halema replied: "A "venous leak" means you have leaky veins. So, that means something is wrong with the valves in your veins and arteries. Your urologist should refer you to a cardio specialist because the diagnosis implies there is something wrong in ALL your veins and arteries, not just the ones in your penis. Find a cardiologist and a new urologist."

LadyLynn replied: "http://tiscali.co.uk Type in "venous leak" where it says "Google." It looks quite promising. There are procedures that can be done. I wish you the best of luck! :)"

wantsshy replied: "Isn't there a vascular surgeon who could repair the leak? You must keep looking into new doctors, just because one urologist doesn't have the answer doesn't mean the answer isn't out there. Doctors are human, they don't know everything so keep looking for a different doctor, consult with as many as possible"

Wayne G replied: "just like in any pipeline if there is a leak you may some flow out of it, but not the pressure. ask him to refer you to a surgeon to repair it."

mickstocks2 replied: "Ask your doctor about implants, they have been shown to work quite well in similar situations."
